Fernando Alonso has been cleared to race at the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday, after overcoming injuries sustained in a testing crash in February.

The McLaren driver was taken to hospital following the February 22 incident, and missed the season-opening Australian GP as he continued his recovery.

Alonso had to undergo a medical assessment from the International Automobile Federation (FIA) on Thursday, and the Spaniard came through after overcoming concussion and reported memory loss.

McLaren's official Twitter account revealed Alonso would make his 2015 bow in Sepang.

"@FIA announce that @alo_oficial has passed all mandatory fitness tests & has been declared fit to race. #MalaysiaGP #F1," McLaren's post read.
