Ecclestone reappointed to F1 board

The F1 supremo relinquished his role with the sport's controlling group in August while standing trail for bribery in Germany, but following the closure of that case has returned to his former position.

CVC, the controlling shareholder of the Formula One Group, confirmed the news on Thursday that 84-year-old Ecclestone had been reinstalled, while also announcing two further appointments.

Former Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo takes up a role as non-executive director, having left his job with the Italian manufacturer earlier this year after 23 years as chairman.

He is joined on the board by businessman Paul Walsh, who will combine it with his roles at Compass Group, FedEx Corporation and Unilever.

Peter Brabeck-Letmathe was also appointed as the chairman of the board, continuing his current job at the top of the sport.
