Crutchlow: No Ducati regrets

The Briton made the switch to Ducati ahead of the 2014 MotoGP season after three solid years with Monster Yahama Tech 3.

Crutchlow claimed three podium finishes in 2013, but his best performance on the Ducati is sixth at the season-opening Qatar Grand Prix back in March and he has already made the decision to move on to LCR Honda from the start of 2015.

However, ahead of his home grand prix this weekend, Crutchlow insists his decision to leave Yamaha was made in good faith and puts his travails down to the fact the Ducati requires a 12-month period of settling in.

"I think it just takes a year to get used to the bike. I've never really been in this situation in my career where I've been so slow or so bad," he told the official MotoGP website.

"I spent three years learning to ride like Jorge [Lorenzo, his former team-mate and two-time MotoGP champion], but that was with the Yamaha.

"I didn't want to change back to a riding style that I don't believe works with every bike - I believe it works with the Ducati only.

"I didn't regret coming to Ducati - they've been supportive of me 100 per cent and they have given me ample opportunity to be at the front. It's just been a difficult year for both them and me.

"I believe that if I would have stayed, of course I would have done a better job.

"But I played the cards that were in front of me on the table to move to the LCR Honda team and I believe that, at this time, it was the best solution for me and for Ducati."

Crutchlow goes into this weekend's race at Silverstone 14th in the riders' standings, with 36 points to his name - a mammoth 227 adrift of runaway leader Marc Marquez.
