Speculation has mounted in recent weeks that 2009 world champion Button could be ditched by McLaren ahead of the 2015 campaign.

McLaren chief executive Ron Dennis is reportedly keen on bringing Fernando Alonso back after the Spaniard's turbulent year with the British team in 2007.

Dennis publicly called on Button and the rest of the McLaren set-up to increase their efforts recently - comments that heightened talk that Button could be heading for the exit door.

However, the 34-year-old, who sits eighth in this season's drivers' standings ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix, is determined to stay put.

"I would like to be racing with McLaren [next year] because I feel like I am a big part of this team," Button said.

"I have a lot of good friends in the team, we have won so many races together and had so many great results.

"It's just a pity this year that the car is not what we had hoped so we couldn't really show our full potential.

"[But] I think next year could be an exciting year, so it would be nice to be here."
