Formule One arrives at the United States Grand Prix with fifth-placed McLaren 20 points clear of Force India in the constructors championship, and retaining the faint hope of overtaking Ferrari in fourth after 22 points in Russia.

Drivers Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen both finished in the top five in Sochi to give the team their best overall performance since the opening weekend of the season in Australia.

With McLaren introducing continued updates to their 2014 car in order to finish the season strongly, Boullier believes the offering available to both men will see them do well in Texas, after making consistent improvement over the course of the year.

"Off the back of our improved pace in Russia, the whole team is looking forward to returning to Austin after a three-week break," said the racing director.

"As we move closer to the end of the season we're continuing the development of our car, working flat-out to extract the maximum performance from our package as each race goes by.

"Our result in Sochi gave us increased confidence, and we come to Austin with the firm intention of building on this recent form with a strong finish for the team and boosting our points buffer over Force India in the constructors' standings."

Both McLaren cars have finished on just eight occasions so far, with Button leading his team-mate by 45 points with three races remaining.
