No V8s for Ipswich

The V8 Supercars round set down for Queensland Raceway in Ipswich in May has been removed for the calendar after a dispute between AVESCO and the circuit management over costs.
The Queensland Raceway event has been part of the V8 series for every year since 1998 and was set down for April 30 - May 2 in 2010. But a disagreement between V8 organisers AVESCO and administrators at the facility, which is owned by the Queensland Government, has seen the round dropped from the schedule just four months out.
"Unfortunately there will not be a round of the V8 Supercar championship at Queensland Raceway in 2010," a statement from Queensland Raceway read.
"For three months we have tried to find common ground with the management of V8 Supercars to no avail. We had agreed to accept their price but it was their inability to accept the rights of the Queensland Raceways Passholders and to accept responsibility for damage to our track whilst they are running the event, which became the deal breakers."
"Queensland Raceway already had a very full program at both Ipswich and Lakeside in 2010. There will be no lack of motorsport activities for you to enjoy and participate in because of this disappointment."
The V8 Supercars series will now have 15 events and kicks off in Abu Dhabi on February 18-20 before travelling to Bahrain a week later.
