Jack Daniels' driver Todd Kelly is viewing the upcoming Bahrain Supercar round as a fresh start to his championship campaign after a poor opening in Abu Dhabi last weekend.
Having won a previous race at the Bahrain International Circuit in 2006, Kelly is looking to take his previous good form at the venue into the second leg of the Supercars Middle East venture.
Boosting his chances, Kelly is one of only two drivers to have raced on the longer Grand Prix layout in Bahrain, which will be used by V8 Supercars for the first time this weekend in two 200-kilometre races.
And, with everything lining up in his favour, Kelly is determined to make the advantages count towards a big round in Bahrain.
"I'm a lot more confident this weekend, especially with how we have gone here in the past," Kelly said.
"The first round was a disaster and I've put that behind me (so) I'm looking at it as more of a fresh start."
"This track looks unreal. We had the car working really well last time we were at this place and the bit that they've added is a really cool piece of track."
"It looks like it will be really enjoyable to drive on and I can't wait to get out there and see what the car will do," he said.
Kelly and fellow Holden driver Garth Tander are the only two V8 drivers to have driven on the 5.41 kilometre 'Grand Prix' layout in Bahrain after the pair were invited to participate as guest drivers in Chevrolet Lumina Series in 2006 at the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Kelly, though, was always disappointed the V8s didn't get the opportunity to race along the same circuit.
"I've said each year we raced here how much of a shame it is to be leaving all that track up there on the hill and not using it," Kelly said.
"So it's great to come back here and finally get to drive on it in our Jack Daniels' Commodores."
