Captain Kevin Sinfield's 500th Leeds Rhinos appearance ended in disappointment as Warrington Wolves ran in five tries to secure a comprehensive 29-10 Super League victory.

Sinfield, who will swap codes to represent Yorkshire Carnegie in rugby union at the end of the season, came on as a second-half substitute for Brett Delaney to reach the landmark.

But by that point, league leaders Leeds - who had lost just once this term before Friday's contest at Headingley - were 16 points ahead.

Gene Ormsby and Joel Monaghan touched down inside 15 minutes in a great start for the visitors and when Ashton Sims scored under the posts the Wolves were 14-0 in front.

Kallum Watkins reduced the arrears before the break but Warrington quickly quelled the threat, as Stefan Ratchford set up Ben Currie to score in the 43rd minute.

And the game was as good as over when Roy Asotasi cruised over the line after collecting Ormsby's offload.

Mitch Achurch's 69th minute score - which was converted by Sinfield - proved a mere consolation for the Rhinos.

St Helens subsequently closed the gap on Leeds to just four points, as they had six different try scorers in an entertaining 34-16 victory over Widnes Vikings.

Rounding off the action, Huddersfield Giants made it back-to-back wins in a comfortable 24-4 triumph at struggling Hull FC.
