Teenage winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is set to make his New Zealand debut in next Friday's Anzac Test against Australia after being named as one of four new faces in Stephen Kearney's 18-man squad.

Watene-Zelezniak missed out on a debut in the opening game of last year's Four Nations, which New Zealand went on to win, when he suffered a freak injury at the beach in the build-up to the game.

The youngster broke a bone in his foot when we went over a wave, but is now in line to finally face Australia.

In addition to Watene-Zelezniak, Kearney has called up full-back Roger Tuivasa-Sheck as well as props Sam Moa and Ben Matulino.

Jason Taumalolo (knee) and Dean Whare (hamstring) miss out through injury, while eight other members of New Zealand's victorious Four Nations squad have been omitted.

Kearney also opted against calling up in-form St George Illawarra Dragons playmaker Benji Marshall, a decision he had hinted at earlier in the week.

Discussing the 18 men to have made the cut, Kearney said: "All of these players have been in good form so far this season and really put their hands up for inclusion in this Anzac Test side.

"It's a sign that we are developing some great young talent and good depth in certain positions.

"We believe this team is capable of a job for us this week and it’s also an opportunity to take another step towards our ultimate goal – the 2017 World Cup."
