Video: Ryan Hall's amazing last second try

Ryan Hall

With no time left on the clock, Leeds Rhinos winger Ryan Hall scored a miraculous try to earn his side the League Leaders’ Shield and a home semi-final with a 20-16 victory over Huddersfield.

The coveted piece of silverware was slowly slipping through Leeds’ grasp after three straight losses and an eight-point deficit against Huddersfield with less than ten minutes to play.

A 74th minute try to winger Tom Briscoe gave Rhinos fans some hope by narrowing the gap to 14-16 before Kevin Sinfield landed a penalty to level the scores.

Needing to go 80-metres in the last 20-seconds to get the win, Rhinos playmaker Danny McGuire and winger Ryan Hall combined for a piece of rugby league magic.

McGuire’s third tackle chip bounced perfectly for Hall to scoop up and run 45-metres untouched to snatch the win, top place on the ladder and a home semi-final.

Leeds were still clinging to top spot on the ladder leading into the game, with Wigan, Huddersfield and St Helens all within striking distance.

If the scores remained level between Leeds and Huddersfield, Wigan, who thrashed Castleford 47-12 in their last game, would have snatched the league leaders’ trophy.

Leeds and Wigan both finished on 41-points with the Rhinos’ superior points differential enough to secure top-spot.

Leeds will host fourth placed St Helens in one semi-final while Huddersfield travel to Wigan for the other.
