The former Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra playmaker was stood down earlier this month after missing two training sessions.

Chase, 29, is set to face a club disciplinary hearing but has taken to Instagram to open up on his struggles.

"Deep down I'm suffering and get no help from the people who should be there making sure I'm okay," Chase said in a post that has since been removed.

"Just want to say to people out there, especially the ones judging me, I am suffering and I'm not embarrassed to say it either.

"If it wasn't for my kids I'd walk away from all this. I grew up loving the game, now it doesn't have the same affect to me like it did as a kid.

"So to the people who are quick to judge, be careful because you don't know what people are going through.

"I'm not saying this for sympathy or attention, this is real, people suffer #ItAintWeakToSpeak."

"Never judge a book by its cover. A picture doesn't say how someone is feeling mentally, if he is happy, sad or hurting."

The Red Devils, including new coaching director Tim Sheens, have declined to comment on Chase’s post.

The New Zealand-born half-back is a former Man of Steel winner in the English Super League.

However, he has been no stranger to controversy having walked out on England during the 2013 World Cup after he was dropped.
