Seven-try Salford rout Widnes

Salford Red Devils ran in seven tries as they eased to a 36-8 win over Widnes VIkings in Super League on Thursday.

The hosts controlled matters from start to finish at the AJ Bell Stadium to move into fourth in the table.

Ben Jones Bishop opened the scoring in the third minute as he touched down from a Rangi Chase grubber kick before Weller Hauraki doubled the advantage following more clever work with the boot from Michael Dobson.

Greg Johnson added another on the half hour to make it 16-0 but Widnes responded well with a converted Paddy Flynn try and a Jack Owens penalty cutting the gap to eight points at half-time.

However, that was as good as it got for the visitors as Lama Tasi and Josh Griffin crossed for scores to put Salford three converted tries ahead.

And the gloss on a fine performance was applied in the final 20 minutes with tries from Corey Paterson and Scott Taylor rounding off Salford's third win of the campaign.
