The 23-year-old’s contract with the Eels expired last week and his ongoing spat with the club is now before the Supreme Court, with the two parties at loggerheads over the terms of his previous contract.
It is understand Eels management tried to broker a new deal with the representative star but were unable to reach agreement.
Parramatta will begin pre-season training early next month and Hopoate, who has failed to recapture top form since returning from a two-year Mormon mission, almost certainly won’t be there.
He has been linked to with a move to Melbourne, Canterbury and former club Manly, however he is yet to receive any firm offers.
It is likely Hopoate, whose previous deal was worth a reported $750,000 a season, will have to take a pay cut should he head to another club.
