The Adam Blair-Glenn Stewart feud may be reignited after all, with the Sea Eagles still hopeful their star backrower will overcome a dislocated finger and play in Friday night's clash against Wests Tigers at Bluetongue Stadium.

Having already lost damaging centre Steve Matai to a broken thumb for between four to six weeks, Manly are desperate for Stewart to play in what has become of the grudge matches of the NRL season.

If he does play, Stewart will face former Melbourne forward Blair for the first time since the pair squared off in the infamous Brookvale Oval fight night late last season.

"We're still awaiting a report on Glenn's finger and hopefully we'll get a positive report," Manly coach Geoff Toovey said on Tuesday.

"We're hoping 'Gifty' (Stewart) will come through okay and play a big game for us."

"Glenn doesn't like to miss too many games and I'm sure he will be doing his best to get on the paddock."

Despite Manly's optimism, Sportal understands Stewart is at long odds to play and may in fact need surgery to repair the damage to his finger.

That could mean four to six weeks on the sideline.

Dean Whare will take Matai's place in the centres while a replacement for Stewart - if needed - will be made later in the week.

Five-eighth Kieran Foran has been cleared to play despite suffering several heavy knocks against the Warriors.

Tigers prop Keith Galloway (foot) is out with Aaron Woods and Matt Groat the starting props, while Tom Humble takes the place of James Tedesco (knee) at full-back.

Brisbane prop Petero Civoniceva will mark his return to the club from the bench after being recalled to the Broncos' squad for Friday night's showdown with North Queensland at Suncorp Stadium.

Civoniceva sat out the Round 1 win over Parramatta due to suspension and coach Anthony Griffin has stuck with Sam Thaiday and Ben Hannant as his starting front-rowers.

Canberra have named rookie Jack Wighton on the wing for Saturday's night match with Gold Coast but the judiciary will have the final say on whether he makes his debut at Skilled Park.

Wighton will contest the grading of a grade two dangerous throw charge arising from last week's Toyota Cup round in the hope of escaping suspension.

Giant forward Tom Learoyd-Lahrs will miss the game with a foot injury, meaning the reliable Trevor Thurling is drafted into the squad.

Last-up winners Canterbury and St George Illawarra both named unchanged line-ups for their meeting at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

Fresh from their stunning last-minute win over South Sydney, the Roosters received further good news with skipper Braith Anasta returning for Sunday's encounter with Penrith at the SFS.

The veteran pivot was a last minute withdrawal on Monday night after damaging his back.

Kiwi international Shaun Kenny-Dowall is also a chance of playing despite not being named.

Etu Uaisele and Sandor Earl come onto the wings for Penrith, replacing injured duo Michael Gordon (leg) and David Simmons (concussion).

South Sydney have chosen hooker Issac Luke on the bench for Sunday evening's visit to Melbourne after he missed the opening round through suspension.

Injured representative stars Jarryd Hayne and Willie Tonga have again been left out of the Parramatta side to play the Warriors at Parramatta Stadium on Monday night.

Reni Maitua comes into the side at lock.
