"I've done so much more in a harder sport" - Mundine

Speaking to former NRL player Denan Kemp on the Locker Room video podcast, Mundine said he still doesn’t believe he gets the credit he deserves as an athlete.

“No one has achieved or done half of the stuff I’ve done. Not half of it,” Mundine said.

“If you do your research, you’ll see that. I’ll never get the credit or just due.

“I’m the best athlete ever produced out of this country.

“All the hype of Jarryd Hayne..it’s great – I’m not a hater. I’m a positive dude. What Jarryd Hayne’s doing is magnificent. But I’ve done so much more in a so much harder sport.

“I’ve switched from a team to an individual sport in boxing and he’s going from a team to team and he’s doing well, but it’s going to be hard.”

Mundine, the current WBC Silver Super Welterweight Champion, is ranked number one in Australia and 17 in the world according to well-regarded website BoxRec.

Mundine will face American Charles Hatley this November in Melbourne in his ongoing attempt to jag a fight with the welterweight division’s elite, including Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and of course Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Jarryd Hayne’s unlikely rise to NFL stardom continues after the two-time Dally M medal winner made a brilliant 37-yard punt return for the San Francisco 49ers against the Cardinals in just his third game of NFL.
