Melbourne Storm star Billy Slater has been named for Australia's Anzac Test against New Zealand despite carrying a shoulder injury.

But Slater has been included in the Kangaroos squad subject to a medical.

Tim Sheens also included four debutants when he named his squad on Sunday, with Josh Dugan, Alex Johnston, Will Chambers and Trent Merrin set to make their debuts.

Daly Cherry-Evans will be the 18th man, while Michael Jennings and Josh Papalii will be in camp.

"We have a lot of experience in this squad but it is also important to be able to test some of the younger players at this level," coach Sheens said.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how the likes of Alex Johnston, Josh Dugan and Will Chambers perform at this level, alongside our more experienced players like Greg Inglis, Johnathan Thurston and Cameron Smith."

The Anzac Test takes place on May 1 in Brisbane.
