St George Illawarra skipper Ben Creagh looks likely to end his career as a one-club player after agreeing to a new deal with the Dragons on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old back-rower has signed a two-year extension, with the option for a third season which would see him remain in the Red V until the end of 2016.

His decision caps an exciting couple of weeks for the club which has seen them re-sign coach Steve Price as well as three new players for next season.

"I've been lucky enough to be given another contract which I'm really happy about," Creagh said on Wednesday.

"I'm a local junior having played for the club all my life and I want to finish my career here.

"I am really proud to be the captain of this famous club, I love everything associated with it and didn't want to go anywhere else."

Creagh's signing comes just a day after they announced the acquisition of English prop Mike Cooper, while Melbourne's Gareth Widdop and Canberra's Joel Thompson will also be with the club from next season.

While Creagh will get to continue working under Price after he was given a fresh two-year deal of his own on Anzac Day.

"Ben has been an outstanding individual for our football club since he came into the organisation," Price said of his skipper.

"It's great to have him on board as he's just an outstanding leader and I cannot say enough good things about him."

Dragons CEO Peter Doust added: "Ben epitomises the modern day sporting role model with his commitment and professionalism to his rugby league, his University studies and a small business venture aimed at educating youth.

"His dedication and attitude to everything he undertakes is first class and everyone at the Dragons is delighted that he has chosen to finish his career where it started as a one-club man."

Creagh has made 207 appearances for the joint-venture club since making his debut against the Warriors in 22 of the 2003 season.

The former representative back-rower will lead the side out in a crucial clash with Manly at WIN Jubilee Oval on Monday night.
