Chambers keen to stick by Bellamy

Will Chambers said coach Craig Bellamy's decision to stay with Melbourne Storm swayed him to sign with the Victorian club until the end of 2017.

Chambers became a dual premiership winner when he returned to Melbourne Storm last year, after spending two seasons playing rugby union around the world.

The former Nhulunbury (Northern Territory) junior had fast become one the hottest signatures on the market, having now played 67 NRL games after making his debut in 2007.

"I love Melbourne, the club and all the people involved," Chambers said.

"When I returned to the club everyone was wonderful, they really made me feel welcome to be back at when it all began.

"Craig Bellamy's decision to stay on a long-term deal has made my decision a whole heap easier. I'm very settled in Melbourne, I'm enjoying my football and love playing for Melbourne Storm."

Bellamy himself said Chambers was a 'wonderful person as well as a wonderful player'.

"He's a proud Queenslander and I don't think he's too far away from representing them in Origin to be honest.

"The way he is playing at the moment, he's going to make it hard for selectors to leave him out."

Bellamy said the Anzac Day clash with the Warriors provided a welcome break for his unbeaten team ahead of Saturday's clash against Canberra Raiders at AAMI Park.

"Everyone had the weekend off after the Thursday game. So everyone has had a bit of rest and is refreshed and hopefully ready to put their best foot forward," he said.

Bellamy reiterated the Storm were not focusing on extending their winning streak past an NRL-record 19 matches.

"We are not going to think about that. It would be great to get there... but if we start talking about it we'd only be putting extra pressure on ourselves," he said.

"That's a month or five weeks down the track, we're just worried about this week."

Last time they met, the Raiders came to Melbourne and upset the Storm 40-12.

"Certainly (the Raiders) have had the wood on us the last couple of times down without a doubt," Bellamy said.

"Quite eerily, I think last year they actually played the Cowboys in Townsville the week before and they got a touch up up there and then came down here and touched us up."
