Bird could miss month

Gold Coast will be without Greg Bird for up to a month after scans on Monday revealed the five-eighth had suffered a hamstring tear at the weekend.

Bird fell awkwardly trying to pull in a Scott Prince pass in the dying minutes of the Titans' 24-10 loss to Brisbane at Skilled Park.

The injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the Gold Coast, who have won just two of their past eight matches and face a dominant St George Illawarra at WIN Jubilee Stadium on Friday night.

It is also a cruel blow for Bird, whose superb comeback season saw him reclaim his NSW Origin jumper earlier this month.

The Titans are expected to fill the No. 6 with either Mat Rogers or Preston Campbell.
