Dumped Manly official Peter Peters and premiership-winning skipper Max Krilich have joined forces to run for positions on the Sea Eagles board in a bid to 'stop the bleeding' at the club.
The pair put forward their names hours before nominations cut off at midnight Monday, ensuring a feisty AGM in mid-December.
There are seven positions available on the football club board, with two members then appointed to the over-riding Sea Eagles board controlled by the club's four major shareholders.
Peters' decision to stand for election on the football club board puts him on a collision course with chairman Bob Reilly, one of the key instigators in Peters' demise after a 40-year association with the club.
Krilich, who led Manly to the 1978 title and is a former Australian captain, is a close friend of Peters' and is angry at the direction the club is headed.
Since winning the premiership on October 2, the Sea Eagles have lost coach Des Hasler (from 2013), star utility back Will Hopoate and a host of key administrative and coaching/recruitment staff.
"Max and I are standing in an effort to stabilise the club that we love," Peters said from the Greek Islands where he is holidaying.
"We don't have a ticket and will stand as life members with no political agendas."
"We are aware it will be difficult but something has to be done to stop the bleeding."
"We are doing this with the fans very much in mind."
The football club manoeuvrings come against a backdrop of uncertainty over Manly's ownership arrangement.
Waste and recycle company United Resources Management is reportedly considering a $5.5m bid for control of the fully privatised club.
