Former Manly official Peter Peters insists he takes no offence over damning evidence good friend and ex-Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler questioned his professionalism and asked for his removal at the end of the 2010 season.
A series of leaked emails from Hasler to former CEO Graham Lowe reveals the coach reacted angrily when he it was suggested Peters should have total control over the club's media program.
Lowe: "Are you prepared to cooperate in a more engaging manner next year with Peter Peters ... he will have total say with all the media issues from now on?"
Hasler: "Peter Peters shouldn't be here. He is not a professional. He doesn't know what he's doing."
Peters was eventually sacked by new club boss David Perry at the end of the 2011 campaign, while Hasler will start with Canterbury on Monday after signing a lucrative four-year deal in the weeks leading up to this year's grand final.
Hasler and Peters have been close friends since the mid-1980s and that situation won't change according to Peters.
"It's water off a duck's back," he told Sportal
"Des has said a lot worse about me and I've said a lot worse about him."
"We've had some massive arguments over the years - we had to be separated in the dressing room after one match - but half an hour later we are mates again."
"That's the way we've always operated and nothing will change."
"The bloke is an absolute control freak and can be a pain in the arse but I love him."
The release of the Peters email and several other missives detailing Hasler's attempt to leave Manly as far back as August are designed to seriously damage the dual premiership winner's credibility in the wake of an ugly feud with the board.
Key board members have told Sportal the club has 'concrete evidence' Hasler induced Manly coaching staff to join him at Canterbury.
They allege he verbally abused development officer David Warwick, who signed with the Bulldogs before reneging and returning to the Sea Eagles.
There are also reports he staked out another employer's house for two hours in a bid to convince the staff member to join him at Belmore.
Hasler has since dropped all legal action against Manly and will start at Canterbury on Monday.
Jim Dymock has been demoted from head coach to assist Hasler.
