The Sydney Roosters have confirmed the signing of New Zealand Warriors five-eighth James Maloney.
Maloney will join the Bondi club for the start of the 2013 season on a three-year deal.
The 25-year-old had a brilliant season with the Warriors in 2011, guiding them to the NRL Grand Final, but was eager to return home to Australia with his young family.
It's understood the Roosters beat out six other club's for Maloney's signature.
"James has a style of play that will complement the Roosters and has a high goal kicking percentage as well," Roosters coach Brian Smith said on Monday.
"He will be in his prime across the seasons he has signed with us and we look forward to welcoming James to the Roosters in 2013."
Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan added: "2011 was a breakthrough year for James and we see him taking his game to the next level at the Roosters, forming a strong long-term partnership in the halves with Mitchell Pearce."
The signing of Maloney means the Roosters will have a wealth of playmaking options in 2013 with current scrumbase pair Braith Anasta and Mitchell Pearce and former Eels star Daniel Mortimer also on their books.
