It started out a game of NRL and ended up touch footy.
Wests Tigers and the Roosters traded 14 tries on an uncomfortably hot day at the SFS on Sunday, the lack of defence angering both coaches.
Tigers mentor Tim Sheens is particularly concerned about his team's habit of conceding tries in blocks.
This was never more evident that against the Roosters, the joint venture club going up 12-0 early before letting in 36 unanswered points in super quick time.
"There were a couple of things that shouldn't have happened," unimpressed Sheens declared.
"Some mistakes made in the outside backs and decision making in 'D' (defence) by key players … if you don't defend as a group and you make mistakes then a side pays for it."
"We can score them but we've got to make sure we don't give up those soft tries on the edges and tries from kicks."
"I'd like to think we're not going to put that performance together again."
"It's not good, not for a first grade side."
"And I don't think Brian would be happy with the amount we put on him."
He wasn't.
"You can't concede that many points in a game of footy and win or lose and be happy," he said.
"There were some terribly soft tries we conceded. I can't cop that."
"It's just not good enough, that stuff. We're only just getting started but we'll need to get better."
After giving up 64 points in two games, Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah admitted his team has some major defensive deficiencies which need immediate fixing.
"We started well but as soon as they got the ball we clocked off," he said of the SFS collapse.
"Four tries in 10-odd minutes … it seems to bit of a thing with us, back-to-back tries."
"It's something we've got to fix."
