Inglis ruled out

Inglis ruled out of Four Nations

09/01/2010 06:28:25 AM

The Kangaroos will be without star centre Greg Inglis when they seek to defend their Four Nations title in October and November.

Inglis, who will play his final game for the Melbourne Storm on Sunday against Newcastle before shifting north to play for the Brisbane Broncos for the next two years, requires a shoulder operation.

The 2007 Clive Churchill Medallist therefore won't be available for the Four Nations which Australia kicks off with a clash against Papua New Guinea at Parramatta Stadium on October 24.

With Inglis expected to undergo the operation in the next couple of weeks, Broncos officials are confident that he will be fit for the start of the 2011 season in March.

With Inglis set to join his future Broncos team-mate Justin Hodges on the sidelines for the Four Nations, Kangaroos selectors will almost certainly turn to Manly's Jamie Lyon and Penrith's Michael Jennings in the centres.

But St George Illawarra pair Mark Ganier and Matt Cooper, who have played together in the centres for Australia in the past, or Warriors centre Brent Tate could also be considered.
