Coach Des Hasler has described his axing from Manly and immediate arrival at Canterbury as the 'best result for everybody'.
Hasler was sacked by the Sea Eagles on Friday following a series of contract breaches but by Saturday morning was installed at the Bulldogs' helm a year ahead of schedule.
Dressed in a blue and white Canterbury polo shirt, Hasler looked nervous and uncomfortable at times but also threw in a few jokes as he fielded a volley of questions about his acrimonious departure from Brookvale.
"Getting the call (from Canterbury) is the best result for everybody so let's get on with it," he declared.
"It's great to be coaching and I am really looking forward to it."
Asked what he expected from the Bulldogs in 2012, Hasler replied: "To be really competitive."
"It will take a while to get to know each other but it's about working with people. It's about all being on the same page."
"It's all about adopting the same values and heading in the one direction."
Hasler conceded the fallout at the Sea Eagles over the last month since leading the club to their second NRL premiership in four years had been tough.
"Let's be honest, it's been difficult for all parties, It's been unfortunate for all parties," he said.
"It was unexpected the circumstances but that's part and parcel of rugby league - there's highs and the good times but there's always drama just around the corner."
"Now it's best left as it is and everyone just gets on with it and everybody moves forward."
