South Sydney star Greg Inglis is likely to miss the start of the NRL season due to the ankle injury he picked up in Saturday night’s NRL All Stars match on the Gold Coast.
Inglis had scans on his left ankle on Sunday and was told to expect to spend from four to six weeks on the sidelines.
The Test and State of Origin centre will get results of the scans on Monday but is highly unlikely to be ready for the Rabbitohs’ traditional season-opener against the Sydney Roosters on March 5.
Inglis suffered the injury on the same ankle that plagued his 2011 season, while scoring a late try in the Indigenous All Stars’ 36-28 loss to their NRL counterparts.
Speaking on Channel 9 on Sunday Inglis said: "It is frustrating. It's probably the first pre-season I've had for a while."
"(After scoring the try) I realised that something serious had happened."
"It looked like a sniper just hit me from the grandstand."
