Canterbury-Bankstown have confirmed hooker Michael Ennis will captain the club for the 2012 campaign.
The NSW rake takes over the reins from long-serving skipper Andrew Ryan who retired at the end of last season.
Ennis says being chosen as the club's 77th captain is the biggest honour of his career.
"It certainly outshines anything I've achieved in the game," the 27-year-old said.
"It's something that I regard extremely highly and something that I think I'm going to look back on in many years to come as a very, very special and proud moment in my life and I'm really looking forward to the challenge ahead."
Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg is confident the feisty Ennis is the right man for the job.
"Michael follows some illustrious company who have previously led this club and I have no doubt he will shine in this role going forward," Greenberg said.
"It's hard to define what makes great leaders but I know one thing for sure, that Michael will be leading our club on and off the field in 2012."
"He's a fierce competitor, a passionate family man and a proven performer on the biggest stage at Origin level and Michael will excel in the captaincy role."
