Cowboys snare Mason

Willie Mason is expected to arrive in Townsville on Friday to formalise arrangements with the Cowboys after surprisingly choosing to revive his career at the NRL outpost over Newcastle.
Mason, unwanted by the Roosters, was thought to be headed to his home town of Newcastle where his family is still based.
But reportedly unhappy with a number of behavioural clauses the Knights wanted to insert in his contract - and convinced the Cowboys have a better chance of winning the premiership than the Knights – the former representative star opted for North Queensland.
Mason has been searching across two codes for a club after the Sydney Roosters made it clear he was no longer part of their plans.
Several NRL clubs made approaches but backed off when sponsors and fans became nervy at the prospect of signing such a controversial and divisive figure.
