The horse fell over in the stalls an hour before the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), and took skin off his leg.

But vets passed him fit to race, and the only bleeding in evidence was from those the $4.40 chance beat under jockey James McDonald's patient ride.

Doncaster winner Sacred Falls ($11) flashed home for second, with the Queen's own galloper Carlton House ($8) third after setting a hot pace.

Jockey Tommy Berry and trainer Gai Waterhouse combined for victory in two Group Ones on the program - the second and final day of the inaugural Sydney autumn carnival event.

They first won the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) with $41 longshot Diamond Drille, before taking out the Sydney Cup (3200m) with favourite The Offer ($3.30).

Berry dedicated his two Group One wins to his brother Nathan, who died earlier this month.

In emotional scenes after his Sydney Cup, Berry was joined in the mounting yard by his parents to celebrate his win.

Rising Romance added to a big day for Kiwi gallopers with her win in the other Group One, the Australian Oaks (2400m), with McDonald also aboard.
