Typhoon Tracy has marked her return to the racetrack with a soft win in the Group One CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Typhoon Tracy started a red-hot $1.30 favourite and enhanced her reputation as the best mare in Australia, comfortably accounting for Heart of Dreams ($7) and Sirmione ($41) third.
But trainer Peter Moody poured cold water on suggestions she will head to England, saying that the Futurity Stakes (1600m) in a fortnight was the only certainty and the wealth of quality races available in Australia over the next few months meant that he would likely confine her to a campaign on home soil.
He said that the Hong Kong International Mile was the only likely destination if he was to head overseas later in the year.
Having her first run since an impressive finish to her spring campaign, Typhoon Tracy sat off the leader Danzylum throughout the race. Jockey Luke Nolen let her down on straightening and she powered clear to win by a clear margin, breaking 22 seconds for her last 400 metres.
Heart of Dreams, first-up since the Cox Plate, ground his way into second, while Sirmione, on the comeback from serious injury, was very impressive in running third.
Melbourne Cup winners Viewed and Shocking never threatened but worked home nicely late in the race.
