Military Rose wins Magic Millions

Military Rose ($4.30) has streeted the field to win the $2 Million Magic Millions by four lengths on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
In one of the most dominant performances in the history of the race, Military Rose had a brilliant start, sitting on early leader Wandering Star before dashing clear at the top of the straight to claim a famous victory.
The win for trainer Gail Henrich breaks a 22-year drought for Gold Coast trainers in the two-year-old classic, while local hoop Stathi Katsidis also rose to the occasion with a ride that made the most of the filly’s perfect draw.
While the clear pre-race favourite gave punters plenty to smile about with the easy win the John O’Shea-trained Ambers Waltz ($2.90) proved the doubters wrong with a gutsy ride to finish ahead of Demanding Miss ($3.40).
