Sportal's Bren O'Brien ranks the chances of every Melbourne Cup runner, based on form, conditions, personnel and weight to rating.
How it works:
Each horse is ranked 1-24 in each of the below categories, (1 being highest and 24 being lowest) and the overall rankings is determined based on the total of those ratings.
Categories:
Form: Rates a horse's form coming into the race based on a measure of its current form and its best form
Conditions: Rates how a horse has performed under the conditions of the race, including distance, track, track condition (good to dead) and barrier.
Personnel: A combination of the rating of the two key personnel involved with the horse, the trainer and the jockey
Weight to rating (WTR): A measure of how the horse's weight compares to its current official rating
