Black Caviar wins again

01/27/2012 10:00:40 AM

Champion mare Black Caviar has made it 17 wins from as many starts after another dominant performance in the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley in Melbourne on Friday night.

The unbeaten five-year-old sat just off the pace in the six horse field, but unleashed her seemingly effortless run at the 400 metre mark to sprint past her rivals and go on and register a simple victory.

"She relaxed nicely off an even speed...I gave her a bit of a squeeze just to make sure she took full benefit from the gallop," jockey Luke Nolen said after the race.

Black Caviar's five rivals may not have been the classiest the Peter Moody-trained galloper has met, but the winning time of 1:09.40 gave the impression that the unbeaten streak could continue on for some time yet.

The next mission for Black Caviar is the CF Orr Stakes over 1400 metres at Caulfield next month and an international campaign later in the year could also be on the cards.

Black Caviar is entered for two sprint races on World Cup night in Dubai at the end of March and the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot in June is also a distinct possibility.

"We have set our next three (races) out, but we are going to sit down on Friday with the owners and that will tell us a bit more," Moody said.

"But it's just great to see her back."

"She has really pleased us at home and it’s great to bring that to the races."

Second over the line - albeit beaten over three lengths - was track specialist Zedi Knight, while another Moody galloper, Doubtful Jack, was third.

Come on, she's racing against donkeys! To put her in the same class as other true champions of the past is sacrilege.

there is no point to race her against donkeys just to increase to increase the no of wins. It is better to fight all and suffer one or two loses. Fight All plus Frankel,

She may well be racing against inferior class horses, but look at her posted time - cruising in the last furlong basically...If you know anything about racing, nothing short of awesome.

These wins against B grade chaff bandits do not do anything to enhance her reputation, Manikato, Schillaci, Takeover Target and even Apache Cat would donkey lick these turtles, she needs to get O.S and take on the worlds best in there own backyard asap.
