Untapable takes out Longines Distaff

Untapable

The three-year-old filly claimed her fifth win in six races, surging away from Iotapa in a dominant display at Santa Anita Park in California, with Don't Tell Sophia producing an impressive late sprint to claim second in a photo finish.

It was Untapable's third group one win and marked an impressive return to action, as the bay filly raced for the first time since July to secure the $2million purse.

Drawn wide for the 1800-metre race, Untapable got out of the gates quickly and settled two lengths from the front.

With Iotapa setting the pace, Rosie Napravnik first started to move Untapable towards the front on the final bend.

Untapable and Iotapa were half a length clear of the field at the top of the home straight and the former had too much speed, powering away to win by a length.

Thanks to Don't Tell Sophia's impressive finish, Iotapa had to settle for third.

In the other races on Friday, Goldencents claimed the Dirt Mile, Hootenanny won the Juvenile Turf and Lady Eli triumphed in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.

The Breeders' Cup will continue on Saturday, featuring the 2000m Breeders' Cup Classic, which is worth $5m, and the $3m Breeders' Cup Turf over 2400m.
