In total, nine Group I races have received a prizemoney boost, including the iconic Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington which has been elevated from $1 million to $1.5 million.
Below is a list of the other eight Group I prizemoney increases in Victoria.
Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m, Caulfield, 27/2/16) - increase of $500,000 to $1.5 million
Newmarket Handicap (1200m, Flemington, 12/3/16) - increase of $250,000 to $1.25 million
Black Caviar Lightning (1000m, Flemington, 20/2/16) - increase of $250,000 to $750,000
Australian Guineas (1600m, Flemington, 5/3/16) - increase of $250,000 to $750,000
C.F.Orr Stakes (1400m, Caulfield, 13/2/16) - increase of $100,000 to $500,000
Oakleigh Plate (1100m, Caulfield, 27/2/16) - increase of $100,000 to $500,000
Futurity Stakes (1400m, Caulfield, 27/2/16) - increase of $100,000 to $500,000
William Reid Stakes (1200m, Moonee Valley, 24/3/16) - increase of $100,000 to $500,000.
Total prizemoney in Victoria has now risen to more than $174 million (excluding VOBIS bonuses) for the 2015-16 season which completes a 21 percent increase in total prizemoney since 2012.
