Grand Armada was backed from $4.40 into $3.50 before notching a first-up win at Strathalbyn after a 14-month layoff on September 16 but the five-year-old is an $11 chance to claim the last race of the day at Morphettville Parks.

Jamie Kah was aboard Grand Armada at Strathalbyn last time and the former Adelaide premier jockey says the son of Commands can notch his second successive win despite jumping from Class 1 to Benchmark 70 company.

"They (the McEvoy stable) thought he'd run well at Strathalbyn,” Kah said. "He's just a really big gangly sort of horse but I was really happy with his win.

"He needs more ground definitely but if he brings what he did last start, he'll be competitive again.

"With barrier one for this, he's drawn really well.”

Kah said the five-year-old son of Commands is still developing into his big frame but the winner of two of his 10 starts performed well in similar class races over longer trips.

"It would be good to see him at a mile or further,” Kah said.

"He's a completely different type of horse for a Commands. He's got big legs and when you ride him and you look down, you see these legs swinging everywhere but he's got some ability.”

The Phillip Stokes-trained Sagapuss is the $3.70 favourite to take out the $30,000 contest ahead of Beau's My Boy and Rib Eye, who are $4 and $4.60 chance respectively.
