Backed in from $26 earlier in the week, Golden Mane was untroubled to win the sixth race at $5.50.

The TAB fixed odds team has provided Racenet a review of its betting activity on the day.

Race 1: The late go for unplaced Theanswermyfriend wasn't successful after the colt was supported well twice ($5.50-$3.80 and then $4.40-$3.70 within five minutes of the start time). Morning favourite Legerity - who finished third - drifted from $3.70 to $6.50 while Vegas Strip - who ran fourth - eased from $4.80 to $5.50. Rampage was easy in betting ($6 to as much as $7.50).

Race 2: Rillito was well fancied throughout betting today between the $4-$4.40 mark (closed $4.20) and was too strong in the finish. Runner-up Divine Mr Artie continued to drift as the morning favourite ($3.20-$4.40) while the unplaced Faatinah (as short as $3.80) was unwanted late in betting (closed $4.60). A plunge on Les Darci ($17-$12 before race morning; $11-$7 on the day) failed to materialise.

Race 3: Following the late scratching of Liten Prinsessa race morning, the unplaced Sino Eagle was the popular runner between the $4-$4.40 mark (closed $4.40). Third placed Catch That Cat assumed favouritism but continued to drift from $2.80 to $3.60 (touched $3.80 briefly). Whistle Baby - who was as much as $15 during the week - tightened from $5 to $4.40 and rewarded those punters.

Race 4: Master Zephyr put pay to his rivals very quickly entering the home straight and favourite punters who backed him from $2.60 to $2.15 were pretty happy. One punter placed $7,000 at $2.15 on Master Zephyr as the favourite continued to shorten late in betting. The unplaced Sure You Can received support during the week but was unwanted today ($4.60-$6.50; touched $7 briefly).

Race 5: Flying Light did ease from as short as $3.90 to $4.60 before returning to the morning quote of $3.90 and ended up running third in a three-way go. Runner-up She's Got Speed almost landed a good go after being as much as $17 Friday before tightening from $14 to $10 today (was as low as $8). Fourth placed Unbreakable drifted from as short as $4.60 to $6 late while Kracken lengthened from $7 to $8 today.

Race 6: Backers of Golden Mane who managed to snag the opening price of $26 last Wednesday were on good terms with themselves after he strode away in the home straight. Golden Mane was $5 into $4.60 before easing late in betting to $5.50. The unplaced favourite Club Star was as much as $2.35 today and closed $2.20.

Race 7: Favourite punters were left lamenting after Churchill Dancer couldn't get a clear crack in the home straight and ended up running unplaced. Churchill Dancer was around the $3.70-$3.80 mark for the majority of the day (closed $3.70). Grane was the only galloper given a good chance of causing an upset and was backed from $8 to $6.50 today (did touch $6).

Race 8: Sea Spray was absolutely backed off the map with 70% of the hold on the favourite who was unplaced. Sea Spray firmed from $3.50 to $2.70 until about 30 minutes before start time and was then backed even more heavily in the last 10 minutes of betting from $2.90 to $2.35. Bets of note in the order they were placed included $5,000 at $2.70, $5,000 at $2.60, $4,000 at $2.60, $5,000 at $2.50, $4,000 at $2.45, $10,000 at $2.40 and $4,000 at $2.35. Marli Magic was $9 for the majority of the day (touched $9.50) but punters who snapped up the opening price of $51 last Wednesday were buoyant.

Race 9: After firming into as short as $3.80, the unplaced Nicoscene was disregarded in the last 20 minutes of betting and drifted to the unusual price of $5.25. Another unplaced galloper, Mandla , tightened from $8.50 to $7 late while Tudor - also unplaced - challenged Nicoscene for favouritism ($8-$5.50). Written Up eased from $15 to $19 but received specking late and trimmed into $14.
