Greg Polson's view - Thompson leading the way at Scone

Sporting News Logo

Thompson has ridden 11 winners for August and leads Richard Bensley in the country New South Wales riding ranks by two victories.

Thompson has at least three winning chances at Scone and is the jockey to follow.

Murranji looks the best of his rides and is ready to win having his third run back from a break in the Dawn Approach @ Darley Class 2 Handicap (1300m).

Thompson was on board the Rod Northam-trained Murranji when a close fourth at Muswellbrook resuming from a spell on August 2.

Murranji did plenty wrong at Narromine last time out when ridden by a different jockey and will relish having Thompson back in the saddle on Friday.

Third-up on his home track at Scone, Murranji will take plenty of beating.

Thompson rides Captain Kirk for Scone trainer John Ramsey in the Verrazano - New At Coolmore Maiden Plate (1000m).

Captain Kirk resumed with a solid third at Scone on August 9 to make it four placings from nine career starts to date.

With Thompson in the saddle from barrier four Captain Kirk gets his chance to record a maiden win.

Thompson has the ride on Whatever Chic for Allan Denham in the HTBA Protect Our Industry Benchmark 69 Handicap (1600m).

Whatever Chic will be chasing back-to-back victories at Scone after winning a benchmark 65 handicap on August 9 and is a winning chance again down on the minimum.
