The son of Snitzel has done much of his racing in blinkers and wore them at his last start when fifth behind Bon Aurum in the Group III Caulfield Guineas Prelude over 1400m on September 26, but Northam has removed them for Saturday.
"I thought he over
"He was on the back of Bon Aurum before the home turn but wobbled around the turn and gave Steven (Arnold) a bit of a tough ride.
"I thought under the circumstances his effort was good to get within a length and a quarter on the line.”
Odyssey Moon finished sixth behind Pasadena Girl in the Group I Champagne Stakes over 1600m last season and Northam is wanting a truly run race on Saturday.
"It will depend on how the race is run on Saturday but if he can settle where he's happy I'm confident he can run on and be in the finish,” Northam said.
"He's done a treat and I'm very happy with him. His fitness is great and he's very well in himself.
"I'll probably pop him over a couple of hurdles here on Friday morning to sharpen him up.”
Steven Arnold will again ride Odyssey Moon who is a $41 chance with Sportsbet for the $1 million Caulfield Guineas.
