San Diego attacked the line when runner-up behind the in-form Music Magnate in a 1400m Open Handicap and stopped the clock at 11 seconds flat for his final furlong.

Godolphin's five-year-old gelding is a monster to look at and whilst reasonably forward in condition for last Saturday's assignment, will strip fitter second and third-up.

The fastest final 600m of the day went to Michelle Ritchie's Better Not Blue.

With a lightweight of 53kg, the four-year-old gelding broke 33 seconds for the final 600m in clocking 32.76 when runner-up in a 1200m Benchmark 85 event.

A lightly raced galloper still learning the trade, he is a horse which can be blackbooked and importantly handles all conditions.

Below is a table summarising the fastest final 600-metres and 200-metre splits at Randwick on Saturday.
