At her previous start in the Toy Show Quality, Echo Gal dwelt at the start, had to settle in third and second position before being gunned down late when narrowly beaten by Amicis.

On Friday, the Mona Lisa Stakes could develop into a real speed battle with horses such as True Blue, Il Mio Destino and I'm In The Money also natural leaders.

"The Toy Show was not her style of racing, she races best when she can dictate in front,” Waterhouse's stable foreman Mark Newnham said.

"She has drawn the rails, Wyong suits her style of racing and she raced there in last year's Magic Millions before she went to the Gold Coast.”

This year's Mona Lisa Stakes has drawn has drawn a capacity field and one of the stronger fields in recent years.

John Sargent's decision not to start Kirramosa, after she was given top weight of 61kg, cleared the way for Blake Shinn to again link with local galloper Two Blue, from the Kristen Buchanan stable.

While Two Blue is another on-pace galloper, Buchanan does not want Shinn to get into a speed battle.

"If they go mad in front I would prefer Blake to have her back off the speed but he will have to make the final decision when the field jumps,” Buchanan said.

"With the amount of speed in the race I think it is going to be a race made for the swoopers although that could be a problem in a field of 16.

"We have had this race ear marked for Two Blue for some time and then it draws what I think is probably the best field ever.

"She faces a tough assignment but all we can do is hope things fall her way.”

Berry Delicious and Marple Miss share equal second favouritism at $6.50 and in both cases their racing style is to sit back off the pace and swoop.

Costin won the race last year on Bouzy Rouge while she rode Berry Delicious to her last win at Rosehill in mid-July.

Trainer Jason Coyle gave Berry Delicious as let up after that win.
