Godolphin's resuming Group I winner Hartnell holds early favouritism at $3.50 with online bookmaker Sportsbet but the majority of the support has come for Kermadec, which returned with a slashing fifth in the Group II Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick a fortnight ago.
Kermadec opened at a top price of $6 when first all-in markets were released on Monday afternoon but has since been crunched into as short as $4.60, placing him ahead of likely rivals Royal Descent and Pornichet which filled the Warwick Stakes quinella.
It's Somewhat and Messene are next in betting however both gallopers have also been nominated for the Group II Tramway Stakes.
Another notable entry with a Tramway Stakes nomination is last year's Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist.
