Bright future for Rillito

Shuffled back towards the rear along the inside after an indifferent start, Rillito had a wall of horses in front of her approaching the home turn and in need of some luck.

Once extricated by Craig Williams and in the clear in the home straight, Rillito ($4.20) needed only a minimum of urging to run down Divine Mr Artie ($4 fav.) to score by a short neck.

David Charles, Melbourne foreman for Godolphin, said Rillito was a promising filly.

"She's a very promising filly. John (O'Shea) has been impressed with her in Sydney and the team sent her down in great order,” Charles said.

"It looked a bit awkward there for a while but once Craig negotiated a path for her she did it well.

"We had the benefit of coming here for a gallop on Tuesday and it certainly helped.

"She's got a lot of scope for improvement, a daughter of Street Cry and she looks to have a bright future.”

Williams was impressed with the acceleration Rillito showed in the home straight.

"She was not happy tight along the rail but we didn't have a lot of choice from barrier one,” Williams said.

"Once she found some galloping room she quickened like a good horse and is a nice filly in the making.”
