On one hand, his Group I winners Mongolian Khan, Dal Cielo and Turn Me Loose are thriving.

On the other, the firm track at Moonee Valley last Friday has ended the spring campaign for Collaborate who will return to New Zealand after finishing lame in the Group II Stutt Stakes.

"We've had a wet, cold winter at home and these horses are thriving here in the warmer weather.” Baker, who trains in partnership with Andrew Forsman, said.

Mongolian Khan and Dal Cielo are to run in Group I races at Caulfield on Saturday and both pleased Baker in their respective gallops at Flemington on Tuesday.

Mongolian Khan was alone on the steeple grass over 1400m in 1:32.04, his last 400m in 24.22 seconds.

"He's not a good track worker but is doing very well here, I really could not fault him,” Baker said.

"That was good from him this morning. He's a four-year-old bull now and he needed that.

"His two runs here have been good and he's starting get out to a more suitable distance now."

Similarly Dal Cielo, who was paired with the Tony McEvoy-trained Manhattan Blues over 1200m in 1:20.46 on the grass, covered his last 400m in 23.56 seconds, hitting the line together with his partner.

Winner of the Group I Diamond Stakes last season, Dal Cielo debuted in Australia with a third in the Group III Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) on September 26, leading until the final 50m.

"I'm very pleased with him, he has come on so much since his last run,” Baker said.

"The weather has brought him on in his coat and he looks terrific.

"He did a bit wrong first time in blinkers and at Caulfield, but I wanted him to have the experience around the course and he's come out of it in great order.”

Opie Bosson will partner both Dal Cielo and Mongolian Khan on Saturday.

Sportsbet has priced Dal Cielo at $9 for the Caulfield Guineas behind the $2.25 favourite Press Statement.

Mongolian Khan is also $9 with Sportsbet for the Caulfield Stakes where Kermadec is the $3 favourite.
