Dwayne Dunn remembered his instructions and rode to order.

"She bombed the start, jumped straight up in the air and when you ride for David (Hayes) you know the rules and you know the instructions so I just had to go back and ride for luck,” Dunn said.

With Take Pride setting a hot pace in front, Stay With Me was last at halfway, Dunn electing to stay on the rail.

Take Pride began to weaken into the home straight and Stay With Me ($8) came through between horses to accelerate clear 200m out and defeat Jameka ($8.50) by 1 3/4-lengths with Badawiya ($5.50) 1 1/4-lengths off third.

In winning the Thousand Guineas, Stay With Me emulated her dam Miss Finland, trained by David Hayes and also bred and raced by Arrowfield and partners Alan Jones and John Leaver.

"We know how good she is, she wasn't herself the other day but she brought her a game today.” Dunn said.

"I just wanted to switch her off and once she got on the bridle her class came out.

"Her mother was a superstar and she's very very good.”

David Hayes, who trains Stay With Me in partnership with Tom Dabernig, praised the ride.

"Top marks to Dwayne, he obviously had a lot of horse under him but he rode her perfectly after the start she had.”

Hayes said he would wait on making a decision about the next start for Stay With Me, a daughter of Street Cry.

"We'll have a team meeting. She's a Group I winner now and that was the aim,” Hayes said.

"She'll be at Flemington, whether it's the Oaks or maybe the Mackinnon (Stakes), or I would not be frightened to try her at the mile. We'll see.”

Stay With Me completed the trip in 1:35.89, half a second faster than Press Statement in winning the Caulfield Guineas.
