Woods wears retirement jibe

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is the latest in a long line of critics to tee up a jibe at Tiger Woods, amid the latter's on-course decline.

Woods carded a four-over-par 76 at St Andrews on Thursday, leaving him tied for 139th at The Open.

Posed with a retirement-angle question on Tuesday, Woods had replied: "Retirement? I don't have any AARP card yet, so I'm a [long] way from that."

After Woods underwhelming opening, the AARP hit back at the 14-time major winner.

".@TigerWoods It's better to be over 50, than it is to be over par. #DisruptAging #TheOpen," the tweet read.

Woods, who turns 40 on December 30, still has more than a decade to go before he qualifies for an AARP membership.

But on the verge of missing another cut in a major, Woods' golf game is surely showing why he will soon be on the wrong side of the hill.
