The former world number one has been working with the Canadian since the PGA Championship in 2010, but the pair split on Monday.

Having pulled out of the running for a Ryder Cup spot due to a back injury, Woods will not be in action again until the World Challenge at Isleworth in December fitness permitting.

The14-time Major winner stated it was the right time to part ways with Foley.

"I'd like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship," Woods said in a statement on his official website.

"Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him.

"With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.

"Presently, I do not have a coach, and there is no timetable for hiring one."

Woods - without a Major victory since his US Open triumph in 2008 - has been suffering with persistent back problems this year and underwent surgery in March.

The world number 12 ruled himself out of selection for Tom Watson's USA team for the Gleneages showpiece next month after missing the cut at the US PGA Championship in August.
