Woods 'feeling great' ahead of PGA Tour return

Woods' 2014 season was severely hampered by back problems, which forced him to miss The Masters and the US Open earlier this year.

After missing the cut at the USPGA Championship at Valhalla in August, Woods opted to take time away from the game to allow his back issues to heal.

However, Woods is to make his comeback as he hosts the World Challenge – a tournament set up as a benefit for the Tiger Woods Foundation - and is relishing the chance to display his talents once again.

"I feel great," Woods told SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio. "I feel really, really good. It's great to be back out here competing again. I've missed it quite a bit.

"I'm excited that I have this much time off to obviously heal and get stronger and get my game in order for next year. I went through a period there for the last year, year and a half, where I didn't really practice that much.

"I can finally log in the time, log in the minutes, and really delve into a good practice session and really get a lot out of it. And that's something that I hadn't been able to do in quite some time."

Woods, who will turn 39 later this month, announced nine days ago that he had hired Chris Como as a swing consultant, and the 14-time Major winner is excited by the partnership.

"Happy to have Chris Como consulting and working with me on my swing," he added. "I'm excited to be back competing."

The World Challenge tees off at Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Florida on Thursday.
