Tiger Woods' agent has denied claims that the 14-time major winner is serving a suspension for failing a drugs test.

Last Friday, former PGA Tour player Dan Olsen told radio station The Game 730AM that Woods - who last month announced his decision to take an indefinite absence as he tries to recover his form following back problems - had been banned, before then retracting his statement.

And Woods' representative Mark Steinberg and the PGA Tour's executive vice president Ty Votaw have both issued strict denials.

"Over the past year, Woods has withdrawn with an injury three times and now fallen outside of the 70 in the world," Steinberg told ESPN.

"These claims are absolutely, unequivocally and completely false. They are unsourced, unverified and completely ridiculous. The PGA Tour has confirmed that there is no truth to these claims."

Votaw added: "There is no truth whatsoever to these claims. We categorically deny these allegations.’'

Woods is expected to return in time for The Masters at August next month.
