Baddeley holes 336-yard tee shot

Aaron Baddeley says he was left to rely on the reaction of spectators after holing his drive on the 17th at the Texas Open.

Baddeley hooked well left of the green on the short par-four before deciding to take an unplayable lie and re-tee his ball to hit his third shot.

Not only did the 34-year-old hit this one straight, he knocked it straight in the hole.

Even though he managed a birdie, Baddeley was left to rue a missed opportunity to register a rare albatross via the hole-in-one.

Nevertheless, Baddeley ended the day two shots adrift of leader Charley Hoffman.

"I just thought I'd just hit it straight and so I hit it and started walking and then heard the crowd going nuts," Baddeley said. "I was like, wait, I just made birdie.

"I played really nice for the majority of the day. I just said to myself it was the wrong shot. Hit a straight one. It was straight downwind, get it going straight, it will go straight.

"So I hit the second one and said, man, why didn't I do that the first time? And it rolls up and goes in."
